around him. His credentials include over two hundred twenty
five major awards. Elected to fifteen watercolor societies,

"Rather than replicate the limitless unorganized natural
world, my desire is to invent a visual condensation that
allows nature to reassert itself within the boundaries of
the two dimensional surface. Aside from the capacity to
accomplish essences, (thingness), more importantly, abstract
forms create a formal universe parallel to creation at large."

HOW
AND WHY TO JOIN PWS'S FACEBOOK GROUP
by Jen Matesa |
Our Facebook group has been open for the past couple of
months, and it now has about 50 members. Here are some
of the things you can find if you join this group:
? photos of the demo Don Andrews gave our membership before
the Aqueous Open
? photos of work recently finished by our members
? dates of upcoming meetings and other important Society
notices
? news and notes from our members: where they've recently
shown their work, etc.
One of the benefits of our having this Facebook group
is that, until we get our website up and running effectively--which
the Society is working on--our current information and
goings-on are available to members in one place.
Another bonus is that whenever a group member posts to
the group, the posts appear on the member's own Facebook
"wall"--basically their Facebook page, which
is seen by all their friends. So if Jen posts or comments
on someone else's post, her 300 contacts see this activity;
or if Peggi interacts with the group, her 1,200 contacts
see it--which brings the Society visibility and currency.
The Facebook group also allows for members to begin discussions
and to post messages to all members of the group. There
are tabs for these functions on the group's page.
If you're not a member of Facebook, we encourage you to
give it a try. It doesn't cost anything, and you don't
have to participate in any of its other facets in order
to enjoy the benefits of the PWS group.
To explore it further, go to www.facebook.com and establish
an account. Once you've got an account, you can go to
the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society Group page and request
membership. If you have any trouble with this request,
let Jennifer Matesa and Peggi Habets (the group's administrators)
know via email. We'll put your name on the group's list.
