Membership in the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society is an exciting way to meet artists who share a common interest in water media. The Pittsburgh Watercolor Society sponsors two exhibits per year: Waterworks, a member-only show, and Aqueous International, our juried show which is open to artists from around the world. General meetings are held twice a year to update members about exhibits, workshops, and other activities. They usually end with a demonstration. These meetings are a great opportunity to talk to other members and to share ideas.
New member screenings are held in the spring and autumn. To become a member, one must fill out an application and submit three works for screening. Acceptance is by two-thirds vote of the Board of Directors. All applicants will receive a notification letter regarding their screening result, approximately one week after the screening. New members will be invited to the next general meeting and will receive more information on PWS membership with their acceptance letter.

Sue Schneider recently volunteered to take on the role of Exhibitions Rep to the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts. She is already serving as Our membership chair. Thank you so much for all your extra efforts Sue. As an organization, we thrive on the efforts of our volunteers. We are grateful for the exceptional efforts of a handfull of our dedicated members, but we really need a higher level of involvement from a greater breadth of our membership. We all benefit from the efforts of our volunteers. Lets all see if we can dig deeper when we consider what we might do to help add to the work being performed by our membership. Thanks so much to all our volunteers.
